Use of ethelene in tomatoes and potatoes no longer allowed

From information from the plant protection service of the Landbouwschap Lower Saxony it appears that since 14 February 2012 it is no longer allowed to
produce plant protection means for use in one's own company. This is the result of the new plant protection law coming into force.

Besides the organically operating companies this also affects the conventional potato growers, who by using ethylene delay the germination of the potatoes. This and also the later ripening of tomatoes by using ethylene is no longer allowed by the new law.
