Italy: Almaverde Bio opens the first 100% organic greengrocer

Organic food is catching on while work and new lifestyles are encouraging us eat out more. So why not mix business with pleasure, or better with health? This might be the reason why Almaverde Bio decided to open a greengrocer café in Bologna, at the shopping centre Nova di Castenaso.



This colourful, 150 square metre place is unique and inviting. You can go there for your lunch break and eat salads or fruit salads, but also for a coffee break or to have a juice or a shake.



Besides fruit and vegetables you can find all the range of Almaverde Bio items, such as snacks, sandwiches, Panini and ready meals. There is also a take-away service.



This greengrocer bar is a merge of Almaverde Bio and Camst, a leading Italian company in catering. It mixes skills and experience to give a new opportunity to the consumers who care about health and fitness.

“I think organic food is the ideal segment for those who eat out and the range of our products is suitable for all the current requirements for health and fitness”, Renzo Piraccini, president of Almaverde Bio, says. “Our experience started with the opening of the Greengrocer Almaverde Bio at Mirabilandia last year and it has been giving positive results pushing us to go on this way. This is a step forward to achieve our aim, that is to make organic food available everyday for everybody.”

Paolo Pari, director of Almaverde Bio, explained why they decided to bring organic food where people go since co-operatives are focused on a healthy offer aimed at a wide public.

This venture was also appreciated by Tiberio Rabboni, agriculture councillor of Regione Emilia-Romagna, who underlined that this operation is important also to the people at the beginning of the process, the farmers.
