United Fresh Produce Association announces prize at United Fresh 2012

US: Ready Pac fresh fruit parfaits win “Best New Fruit Product” award

At the United Fresh 2012 convention in Dallas, Texas, the United Fresh Produce Association awarded the "Best New Fruit Product" Award to Ready Pac Foods, Inc. for its new line of fresh fruit and yogurt parfaits. The five-item line of parfaits, which will begin shipping this summer, is right on trend with consumer interest in healthy snacking and quality fresh foods, as well as growth in the yogurt category.

"We are very proud of the new Ready Pac fresh fruit parfaits, and we are honored to have received the Best New Fruit Product award at United Fresh," said Tristan Simpson, director of marketing at Ready Pac. "By merchandising Ready Pac fresh fruit parfaits, supermarkets offer a perfect pantry-load breakfast and light meal solution, and have an opportunity to reclaim sales lost due to customer attrition to other trade channels."

Ready Pac’s parfaits all feature a craveable low fat vanilla yogurt, a tasty granola mix that adds crunch, and 100 percent fresh fruit. Ready Pac’s fresh-cut fruit has no added sugars, syrups or dies, which is a key point of difference vs. other in-house parfait items. Another difference is the larger, full meal size of the Ready Pac parfaits. With packaging specially designed to maximize freshness and prominently display the fresh fruit, the larger, broader packaging profile makes the product very visible on shelf. The parfait cup labels feature bright color cups that help differentiate the five varieties: blueberry; mango, grape, apple, and apple/mango.

"Among the top 15 retail categories in dollar sales, the yogurt category showed the strongest growth in dollar sales in 2011," said Simpson. Ready Pac’s introduction of fresh fruit parfaits brings continued innovation to a high interest category, and is well timed for retail success."
