Kompany:

"Netherlands: "Weather not benefitting cucumber market"

The Dutch cucumber market is reasonably stable at the moment with a price level between 17 and 24 cents. "The Kompany growers are in full production at the moment. I'm getting the impression that they planted later, which means more cultivation switched across. In the west of the country they will be clearing in the coming three weeks, but for our Kompany growers the cultivation switch will mainly take place at the end of May/beginning of June.", says the salesman of the southern sales organisation.

"The weather just isn't benefiting the cucumber market. The dark weather, the low temperatures and the rain aren't helping the consumption of cucumbers. There is demand, but just enough. A lot depends on the weather. It can freeze, or the sun can shine, but good weather will benefit the cucumber sales!"
