Italy to send kiwis to Asia

South Korea decided to open its borders to Italian kiwis. After a long and complicated process started in 2005, the health authorities just approved it. Italy is the only European country that can export kiwis to South Korea.

This opportunity is quite an occasion for the Italian kiwi sector in this important market. South Korea imported 30,000 tons of kiwi in 2010, coming from New Zealand and Chile.

Kiwi might be the first stage for the entrance of other fruits and vegetables from Italy to this market.
