Mario de Goede of Coolfresh:

"EU: "From week 22 far less pineapples"

Last year during the summer months there was a gigantic supply of pineapple because of the 'natural flowering' in December. This year the 'natural flowering' was a lot less, however, and therefore we expect less supply in week 22 to including week 30, possibly even 30-40%" Mario de Goede of Coolfresh International tells.

The price of the pineapple at the moment is about 7 Euro. Mario is not worried, that there will be less supply than expected. "Actually this is not too bad, as in the coming months there will also be a lot of summer fruit on the market. It is not conducive to good sales to have a lot of pineapple then. The small supply will negate the smaller demand well.
