Spain: Robot for strawberry harvesting ready for marketing in US

The company Agrobot, in collaboration with the Centro Tecnológico de la Agroindustria, ADESVA, based in Lepe (Huelva), has finished designing the strawberry harvesting machine and proven its profitability and performance with technical tests. It will be marketed in the United States.

Before exporting it, ADESVA, as reported in a statement, has organized an exhibition that will serve as official act to set in motion this "robot for strawberries" that significantly reduces costs for the farmers.

During the exhibition, that will be taking place on the 4th, 7th and 11th of May, an explanation will be given on how the robot operates so as to get the most out of a strawberry farm.

After recent testing, the utility of this technology has been certified, which reduces the costs of strawberry collection by 50 percent and accounted for 90 percent of savings in the industry.

Thus, a better use of strawberries is achieved, which goes to manufacturing markets to make purées or yoghurt, and to the whole production process of products that do not use fresh strawberries.
