Spain: Peach and Nectarine forum analyses European stone fruit

The National Forum for peach and nectarine in Alcarrás (Lleida) that took place on the 27 of April, will bring information about the other Spanish regions and main production countries in the EU.

The general director for the Fruit Business Association of Catalonia - AFRUCAT - Manuel Simón, exposed campaign perspectives for peach and nectarine in this autonomous community. It's expected that this year's production will be slightly superior to the previous campaign, that was marked by a food crisis due to the E.coli and the earliness of maturation. A slight delay in production is also expected.

Prediction of the crop yield in the rest of Spain, as well as Greece and Italy, were also discussed.

Next to harvest predictions, the National Forum focused its attention on redefining strategies so that companies can adapt to the current economic climate.

The 16th National Forum for peach and nectarine took place in Alcarrás in the Lleida province, in the Municipal house "Lo casino", organized by AFRUCAT in association with FEPEX.
