US: Del Monte avocado pulp wins superior taste award

Del Monte Fresh Produce is proud to announce that it has been awarded the Superior Taste Award with the maximum three stars for its fresh Hass Avocado Pulp by the International Taste and Quality Institute (iTQi). Its delicious, nutty flavor, visual appeal, and silky smooth texture all ranked above 90% on the sensory evaluation charts with a total weighted average of 91.6%.

Fresh avocado consumption continues to increase and as more consumers become familiar with its great taste and nutritional benefits, they are beginning to demand the fruit in formats and on menus nationwide. With its delicious, creamy flavor Del Monte Fresh Hass Avocado Pulp is a ready-to-eat and preservative-free avocado product that can be enjoyed in a variety of ways. It is perfect for retailers to add to their fresh produce and deli sections and for foodservice operators who want ready-to-serve fresh avocados with minimal spoilage. Every year iTQi, which is one of the world’s leading independent Chefs and Sommeliers based organization, gathers a panel professionals from twelve of the most prestigious European culinary associations, in order to test food and beverage products. This year Del Monte Fresh Hass Avocado Pulp was tested along with several hundred other products from companies from around the world. The judging panel analyzed products on a blind basis, and evaluated the food based on an overall hedonic feeling, as well as criteria like visual appeal, smell, texture and flavor.
