Portugal: Makro cuts 328 working places

Last Thursday, Makro announced in Lisbon, Portugal, a restructuring plan that translates into a reduction of 328 working places until the end of the year, according to official sources within the company.

Presently, the group has eployees 1,5000 in Portugal and it's estimated that, by the end of the year, the number will be 1,172, a reduction around 20%.

According to a letter sent by Makro to its workers, on the 5th of March, the company proposes workers take a voluntary redundancy, having received 209 requests from workers about this. From this 209 workers, 189 were from the stores, as revealed by a company's official source.
