Spain: Stonefruit and citrus market report week 17
Cover grown peaches and nectarines have been available since week 16 and considerable numbers are anticipated as of this week.
The variety of peach is Plawhite 5 and 10 and the nectarine variety is Viowhite.
Peach Plawhite 5 - polytunnel cultivation
Seville and Cordoba:
The information has not changed since the last report regarding this region. Neither nectarines or peaches will be in the markets until week 19 or 20.
Murcia and Extramdura:
Similar to Andaulcia (above), however it is probable that the fruit will be ready one week later - week 20 -21.
Nectarine Viowhite 5.
LĂ©rida and Huesca Region:
It is currently being estimated that picking will commence in this area in week 23-24, with both yellow nectarine Yellow Top and yellow peach Early Rich.
Valencia:
As of this week in the 15th Valencia community region, medlar/loquat is being sold. The varieties are Angelino and Algerie. The main markets are the domestic market and Italy and medlars will be available until week 22-23.
Citrus:
Lane on 15kgs loose packing.
Valencia and Andalucia:
Due to the frost some damage is being caused to next season's production. In the next report more information will be available as to what varieties have been damaged and to what extent.
Navel-Lane Late and Navel Powell from Valencia are in the markets now and are of good quality.
