Vertia Holland makes Verita products known through Holland

Verita Holland is specialised in direct export of a large number of fruit and vegetables to various countries. "Our most important sales market is Turkey", says Muhammet Cakir. "We also supply to countries like Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Russia, and for a small part, Holland. Most of our products we don't even see, and are supplied directly to our customers."

700 containers of pineapple yearly

An important product for Veritas is the pineapple. "They come from Costa Rica and are marketed under our own brand Verita." The company has its own establishment in Costa Rica. "Our own people are specialised in long distance fruit transport. This way we can supply the right quality. Every year we export around 700 containers straight to our buyers." According to Muhammer its tight in the pineapple market at the moment. "There has been an increase in price for a few weeks now. This is due to the melon season, which is in full swing, and leaves less space for pineapples in shipping. Luckily we have good agreements with MSC and Maersk which means we can supply our customers all year round and keep the prices low."

Another product under the brand Verita is ginger. "We have special carton packaging for it and supply the ginger in 300 gram+ sizes. The share in ginger isn't very big and we only supply it in the winter", according to Muhammet. "The season is almost over and the new arrivals will come in September." In the future Verita also want to market other products under their brand. "This will mainly be apples, pears, and grapes. To introduce the brand, we supplied bananas from Ecuador to Romania under Verita years ago."

More and more direct deliveries

Verita Holland has been situated in Holland for around 5 years. "Less and less export is going through Holland and more is being delivered straight from the country of import. This is very cost efficient." Holland is mainly handy for Verita to make the brand well known in the sales country. "Pineapple mainly goes to Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Romania. Of course we've had bother with well known brands like Dole and Del Monte. But when they tried our products, they were convinced by the great taste. Most of it is now sold through Holland, but there have been talks about supplying the pineapples straight to these countries from Costa Rica." Besides promoting the brand, Holland is also import for the mixture of products that are supplied. "It's not all container food. Some products go in pallets. In Rotterdam it's ideal to collect the products and send them."
