Fruit and vegetable turnover decreased

Germany: Langard turnover 2011: over 2 billion Euro

The year 2011 was without a doubt also one of the hardest years in the fruit and vegetable trade for the sales organisation Landgard Obst & Gemüse GmbH. "On the whole the turnover of the concern grew by over 2 billion Euro, a strong result", says chairman Henning Schmidt to the German 'Fruchthandel Magazin'. The trade in flowers and plants grew in the stagnating German market by around 17%. The logistics department of the company also grew. Only the fruit and vegetable department didn't do as well in the past year. Things like a large customer from Great-Britain going bankrupt and the EHEC crisis left negative traces.
