US: Maglio & Company announces new facility

Maglio & Company have announced the expansion of their operation to a new facility in Oakdale, Minnesota. The building is 25,000 square feet and will complement Maglio’s 123,000 square foot facility located six miles outside Milwaukee, Wisconsin to provide several new opportunities.

"We have the opportunity to bring our service-oriented business model closer to our expanding customer base," said Sam Maglio, President of Maglio & Company. "Not only will our new facility allow us to reduce food miles to customers in the Upper Midwest, but it also provides the benefit of more frequent deliveries throughout the week." In addition, this new square footage offers the needed space to add several new product lines while still providing Maglio customers with a full line of value-added fresh products.

Designed with the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) in mind, the new facility reflects Maglio & Company’s dedication to quality and food safety by complying with Tomato Metrics, HACCP, and USDA standards. Also located in the new distribution facility is Country Hearth Bread, a family owned bakery that shares Maglio’s commitment to providing safe, healthy food. "That partnership is unrivalled," said Sam.

Maglio & Company has been cross-docking from their Oakdale facility since January 2012. The construction of a new ripening room, holding cooler and refrigerated packaging area, along with a climate controlled tomato repack area, will be completed and ready for operation by May 2012. Hours of operation are 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
