Swiss mushrooms: Pressure on price from abroad

The association of Swiss mushroom growers VSP has found 2011 to have been a good year. The pressure on price increased because of imports. The production of fungi increased by 3.5% and the local market supply of mushrooms could be kept at around 82%, according to VSP.

Especially the cheap offers of German discounters caused problems for the mushroom producers resulting from pressure on prices from imports, according to VSP chairman Roland Vonarburg in the media. In Switzerland different essential preconditions are in force increasing the cost of production.

The VSP could welcome Gotthard Pilze GmbH and Champignons de Cartigny Sàrl as new members.
