Challenges for the Chilean Walnut Comission for 2012

The Chilean Walnut Commission (CHWC) representatives will refer to the main challenges they are facing this season and will emphasize on the new consolidated structure in conjunction with APECS.

Chilean Walnut Commission Chief Executive, Andres Rodriguez, says that his main challenges in terms of partnership, for this year, are the implementation of the Quality Seal, the international marketing campaign of the sector Brand "Walnuts from Chile" mainly in Europe, market research and to continue to
grow in other initiatives such as the opening of new destinations for Chilean nuts.

"We want to continue growing in Asia, we are working hard to generate the authorization of entry for Chilean nuts to China. On the other hand, we want to increase our representation in the industry, for which we are incorporating new members," explained Rodriguez.

Consolidation of the structure, in conjunction with APECS

The current manager of the Association of Plum Exporters and Processors (APECS), Ariel Cifuentes says that CHWC shares many projects of common interest with APECS, among them is the issue of Sectoral Brands, Market Exploration Tour, market intelligence, and so on.

Thus, Cifuentes states that "after so many points in common between these two associations, the idea to assume management of APECS and CHWC is to support both prune and nut promoting activities. "There are many potential synergies to develop, having a common management in both associations," he concluded.
