BayWa fruit turnover increased 26% in 2011
The turnover of German company BayWa amounted, according to their annual report, to about 9.6 billion Euro, 21% more than in 2010. The fruit trade developed positively because despite the higher harvest yields of stone fruit prices remained stable.
The turnover achieved with fruit increased about 26% to 129.7 million Euro (2010: 102.8 million Euro). BayWa is the leading supplier of hand held fruit for the foodstuff trade and the biggest supplier of stone fruit from organic production. Klaus Josef Lutz, chairman of the governing body of BayWa calls 2011 an exceptionally successful year. Also, about the current year he is full of confidence. He wants to reach comparable good results in 2012. "It is of course difficult to estimate what the effect will be of the Euro debt crisis on the economic situation, but at the moment we take it that all sectors within our concern will develop positively" he said.
Thanks to taking over Turners & Growers in New Zealand, BayWa will be able to extend its year round deliveries further, because of the different harvests. Also BayWa will be able to profit from the growing markets in Asia.
