Production destined for US and Canada

Mexico: Oaxaca is back thanks to plantain production

Plantain growing has once again become the green gold for the Papaloapan Basin, since its production is for markets in the United States and Canada, due to its high quality.

And so, while Chiapas, Veracruz and Tabasco, concentrate most of Mexico's production, Oaxaca has returned to the national agricultural statistics.

"We are around the top five, but we need much more to grow and compete with those states," said the president of the Mexican Council for Plantain Producers, Humberto Perez Morales.
