Ad Coolbergen of the glasshouse horticultural company of the same name in Oude Tonge, is satisfied. "At the moment it is fantastic radish weather. The cold nights and sunny weather during the day are extremely good for the radish plant. The climate takes care of an equable growth of the tuber. The radishes are of a nice uniform size."
The sunny weather of spring makes the demand for radishes to increase. "The demand is beginning to increase and this causes a positive mood in the market. At the moment prices are between 1,30 and 1,40 euro/kg. The price of a bunch of radishes is about 30 cents a bunch. I am quite satisfied with this" Ad says.
Coolbergen except at Oude Tonge also cultivates in Italian Borgo Grappa. Ad: "There it is about the same story. A positive market situation thanks to the sunny weather. In Italy we will be in full production till the end of April, after that less."
