Swiss berries on the march

The berry cultivation in Switzerland shows a positive growth. The area will be bigger again this year and then especially the blue berry area. This area to be used for the cultivation of blue berries in Switzerland will be increased by about 20% in 2012 to 65,7 HA. This as reported by 'Früchte & Gemüse', the periodical of the Swiss fruit association in its latest edition.

Also the number of strawberries will probably increase; the strawberry area will be increased by 7%. With this strawberries remain No:1 with an area of more than
473 HA. In second place are raspberries. The total area used for the cultivation of berries will increase by about 5% in Switzerland this year. The total area is 784 HA.
