"Europe: "Mango market good till arrival summerfruit"
The mango market is doing quite well at the moment, according to the importer. "There are Brazilian and Peruvian and the prices are relatively high, especially when compared to last year, at around 4 Euro. Also less volumes arrive and that causes better prices. Unfortunately the quality of the mangoes is not all that good." According to the specialist the lesser quality is the result of the rain.
The Brazilian are slowly starting to arrive.. "They have sufficient volume for this season." The trader mentions that the future market situation depends on the quantities which will arrive. "If they send round 120 containers per week the prices will remain at about 4 Euro. Once they send more it becomes more difficult. I expect the market to remain good till the end of May/the beginning of June. When then the peaches and nectarines arrive again the demand for mangoes always decreases.
