Police warn against fruit and vegetable scammer

A 92-year old woman living alone in the German town of Jünkerath was recently
visited by a fruit and vegetable dealer. The woman only wanted to buy 5 pounds of potatoes from him.

After that the dealer gave the woman pieces of his apples and oranges to try them, after which he finally entered the house of the woman. Although the old lady actually did not want to buy anything the man persuaded her to buy a box of potatoes, a box of apples and half a crate of mandarins. The value of the products was about 30 Euro. The dealer, however, gave her an account of 432 Euro. As the woman did not have sufficient money at home the man went to the bank with her. The duped woman drew the money whilst the dealer waited in the car, After receipt of the money the dealer took the woman home. Here a second male got into the car. Possibly this was an accomplice of the swindling fruit seller. The motorcar is said to be a combi with a DU-registration. The police of Prüm are presently looking for the perpetrator and in addition warn about swindlers like him at the door. When one becomes suspicious the best thing to do is to contact the local police as quickly as possible.
