Brazil announces new measures to prevent citrus diseases

With the reduction on the state levels of cancer infestation on citrus in São Paulo orchards, the Secretary of Agriculture and Supplies is taking some new measures to control this disease.

Through a resolution signed by the secretary João Sampaio, the method to eliminate plants contaminated by the cancer will follow resolution 291 of the Ministry of Agriculture, that predicts eradication of the infected plant and all plants in a 30 meters area.

After almost a decade of restrictive legislation, agricultural defence state organizations, in conjunction with citrus producers, managed to achieve smaller infestation levels in Brazil, so now they can follow a less restrictive legislation.
