Germany: Apples all year round with QS mark

The German supermarket chain Kaiser's Tengelmann will sell fresh apples all year through with the QS mark. This is made possible by apples from New Zealand and a joint project between Cobana Fruchtring from Hamburg, Kaiser's Tengelmann and QS, among others.

"With apples from New Zealand we can supply our customers even after the German/European season with QS apples. With this we have come a step closer to our goal, selling generally controlled fruits and vegetables", says Oliver Dobusch, quality manager of fruit and vegetable at Kaiser's Tengelmann.

The New Zealand growers are registered by QS at the end of the supply chain by a QS approved GlobalGAP mark. Thomas Landwehr, quality manager at Cobana Fruchtring says: "We're happy that we can extend the supply period of QS apples with apples from New Zealand."
