In two years 6 million trees worldwide

Kanzi available year round in few years

Kanzi is known worldwide and the goal is to supply this apple to Europe all year round. According to Urs Luder, manager of Greenstar Kanzi Europe, they're busy planting trees in various countries. "Kanzi has become a global concept. This apple is sold all over the world and we are now also focussing on America, South-Africa, New-Zealand, Australia, The Middle-East and Asia. These countries will play a bigger role in the future."

At the moment the focus is mainly on Europe, where the apple is winning more and more popularity. "The sales of apples is optimal", continues Urs. "The season runs from October to May/June and we have reached a goal of 40,000 tonnes in Europe this season. Besides that we expect a total close to 6 million trees for Kanzi production worldwide within two years."

Greenstar Kanzi Europe is very active in the Southern Hemisphere at the moment. "The cultivation of Kanzi is going well. We've started orchards in South-Africa and New Zealand and in Chile too. In 2013 a good volume should be able to be commercialised from that. The planting has been done and we're reasonable far in production. At the moment it all looks good. This way we can supply enough to Europe and America in the summer and the consumer can enjoy delicious Kanzi all year round." The activities in Europe haven't stopped. "Extra trees are also being planted here, because the demand is increasing."

There is also consumption of Kanzi in the Southern Hemisphere. "Of course we also have a local market there, but for these countries it's generally better to export toward the Northern Hemisphere", explains the manager.

Urs enthusiastically indicates that there are never enough apples. "We already have a large volume, but we definitely need to expand it. This apple is promoted a lot using various media. There are adverts in the tv and we've done actions at events. We're also very active on the social media. The more known Kanzi becomes, the more it is consumed and of course we don't want to disappoint our consumer. They're supposed to get addicted."
