Driscoll's greenhouse strawberries ready in two weeks
"For the growers there are significant advantages. The Driscoll's Lusa has a very interesting production process and is very productive. The production starts relatively early (mid March) and continues until the beginning of July without any large production peaks. The big advantage for the growers is that it's less dependent on one production peak and this means it's less of a risk. The gradual production is also an advantage for the fruit picker, because the employee capacity can be spread out through the months."
"Because Driscoll's Lusa doesn't need any extra lighting, it also has a positive effect on the energy use. The percentage of class 2 is also very low. Producing Driscoll's Lusa in greenhouses is another example of how Driscoll's is developing further in the soft fruit category. Besides strawberries Driscoll's also has an integral chain approach for Driscoll's raspberries, brambles and blueberries. All to ensure the customer can enjoy soft fruit in every season."
