Belgium: General Assembly of the AREFLH
The main issues which will be discussed are crisis management, the situation of the fruit and vegetables consumption, the creation of the European olive oil network and the creation of a transnational AOP (Associations of Producers' Organizations).
For the very first time, two Greek regions, will be present, although West Macedonia and Central Macedonia have been associated with the AREFLH since December 2011.
These two regions produce about 90% of the peach and nectarines of the country. Their other productions are kiwi, apricot, cherry, plum and asparagus.
The main missions of the AREFLH is to
• Represent its 27 adherent areas originating in 6 countries in Europe
• Defend the economic and social interests of the fruit, vegetable and horticultural sectors to the European authorities
• Facilitate the exchanges of experiences, partnerships and common projects between regions and between professional organizations;
• Make strong proposals on the main stakes which condition the future of the fruit and vegetables productions in Europe.
