Timorex Gold demonstrated under a transmission electron microscope in banana leaves infected by Black Sigatoka

This week during the 4th International Banana Congress (CORBANA) in San Jose, Costa Rica, the Stockton Group presented a new scientific study under a transmission electron microscope demonstrating the mode of action of Timorex Gold and the exceptional curative activity on stages 4 and 5 of Black sigatoka development in banana leaves.

For this study, samples were taken from banana leaves infected with Mycosphaerella fijiensis in stages four and five. The samples were extracted from leaves of banana plants treated at the Experimental Station of Monreri in Costa Rica. These samples were treated weekly with 12 consecutive foliar applications, either with: Timorex Gold, Difenoconazole, Tridemorph and Mineral Oil. The untreated plants served as controls.

The samples were analyzed using an electron microscope at the University of Florida, Gainesville, where observations at different stages, especially four and five, confirmed that Timorex Gold has curative abilities.

There is a significantly rising interest in Timorex Gold as a residue-free bio-fungicide for the control of Black Sigatoka in Bananas among numerous international banana companies as well as Latin American, Asian and Caribbean plantations. These entities are eager to meet the EU preference requirement for residue free bananas while still ensuring high yields volume and quality.

Timorex Gold is certified for both conventional and organic crops and has a zero toxic load; therefore, it enables farmers to achieve a high control of Black Sigatoka disease without the fear that their products may be rejected for export.

“This research confirms that Timorex Gold is an excellent tool for the sustainable production of bananas and plantains.” said Mr. Ziv Tirosh, CEO of the Stockton Group. “Timorex Gold is a clear choice for the banana growers – provides a unique opportunity for an efficacious yet safe control of Black Sigatoka in bananas, while meeting European demands to reduce both fruit chemical load and environmental damage”.

Watch a simulation how Timorex Gold causes a disruption and destruction of the cell wall and cell membrane and provides a wide and effective antifungal activity
