20% yearly growth for green products in Portugal

The amount of business in the "green" agricultural sector in Portugal has passed the 20 million Euro mark and grows 20% per year.

In a document covering the Portuguese presence in the biggest European fair of bio products - BioFach - the secretary of State for Agriculture pointed that the production area of green products in Portugal grew 60% last year.

José Diogo Albuquerque, underlined the importance of this activity "for the Portuguese economy, since it can raise export to bigger and more demanding markets in Europe, like Germany, that has a market evaluated in 5.9 million Euro per year and can only produce half of its needs".
