FCE Export SAC starts Peru avocado season

This week the first containers of avocado from the Huaral and Moro regions in Peru will depart to go to buyers in Europe.

The season started slightly later than last year but the volume prognosis is good. The general quality of the fruit is also very good this year.

For the first 5 weeks the majority of the fruit will be of the Fuerte variety. From the middle of April onwards the Hass variety will be the main variety.

The Hass volumes are expected to be some 30% higher this year, but this will be necessary to meet an increased export to the USA, which is expected to be double this year.

“For the first weeks of production the prices were higher and with the better marketing possibilities for Peru the expectation is that the average price for Peruvian avocadoes will come out higher”, says Ms. Diana Sajami Tavára, general manager of FCE Export SAC. FCE Export will market avocados under the brand DALESKA.
