Spain: Trops looking for a mango market in Eastern Europe

Trops cooperative, the main mango trader in Spain, is on the look out for new markets in Eastern Europe at Fruit Logistica, the most important fair for the agro-food sector, taking place in Berlin until Friday.

The manager of Trops, Enrique Colilles, explained in a press note that the cooperative from Malaga has its own stand (24 square meters), to generate a presence with which it hopes to "promote new markets, like the Eastern European ones, that are now in the opening process".

According to Colilles, Trops maintains direct contact with suppliers, is able to guarantee export to other parts of Europe for the whole year round, and is quick to appreciate the differences of each individual market it serves.

The manager said that, in March, the cooperative is expecting to open a new plant in Vélez-Málaga, where the company headquarters are to help widen their facilities. This will allow them to triple the current sales operation.

"Facing the raise in commerce amounts, the presence in one of the most important fairs for the sector acquires a bigger meaning", argued Colilles, pointing out that of the 2,4000 exhibitors participating in the 20th edition of Fruit Logistica, 2,212 of them are from outside Germany.
