ODENBERG showcases new advanced sorting technology
ODENBERG will also have a satellite presence in the French pavilion at the exhibition on Stand E-02a in Hall 21.With a global reputation as the leader in potato sorting, the company has further developed its existing sorting technology to ensure that ODENBERG halo’s applications include potatoes of all varieties and sizes (washed, unwashed, skin on, peeled and cut), sweet potatoes (skin on, peeled and cut) and carrots (washed, peeled and cut).Other sorting applications catered for by ODENBERG halo include citrus, peaches, pears, dried fruits, cucumbers, tomatoes and berries - all of which benefit from the system’s gentle product handling ability.
ODENBERG halo delivers enhanced defect, shape, colour and size sorting thanks to a next generation vision unit which integrates near infrared (NIR) spectrometry, charge-couple device (CCD) camera sensors and light-emitting diode (LED) illumination. This combination is mounted above and below the system’s conveyor belt, enabling ODENBERG halo to achieve unsurpassed levels of accuracy, thanks to its ability to deliver an impressive one millimetre resolution. The entire system is controlled by an intuitive touch screen to enable ease and flexibility of use.
Commenting on the introduction of the ODENBERG halo, ODENBERG’s marketing & business development manager, Sean Slevin, said: “Halo sets new standards in root crop sorting and represents the apex of our product range due to its outstanding levels of performance. The system typically reduces manual labour requirements by 80 per cent, increases capacity by ten per cent and enhances yield between two and four per cent.
“ODENBERG halo has been designed according to ODENBERG’s strict criteria of being high capacity, having a small footprint, being extremely reliable and having a low cost of ownership. It is the latest and most advanced addition to our sorting systems, which include the best-selling ODENBERG titan potato sorter and our ODENBERG sentinel functional sorter for foreign material and gross defect removal.
“We have already sold more than 30 ODENBERG halo systems worldwide and the feedback we have been receiving is extraordinary. Its performance has allowed us to establish new customers in France, the UK, the Netherlands and Italy and it is further enhancing ODENBERG’s reputation as a product and technology leader in root crop sorting.”Founded in 1968, ODENBERG designs and supplies highly advanced optical sorters and graders, peeling systems and chilling/freezing solutions.Six of the world´s top ten global food companies are ODENBERG customers.
