Holland: More light starts with clean glass, but both in- and outside

In order to clean the glass inside properly during or after cultivation the Dutch company Willem Poppe have developed a special high pressure spray-head (200 atmosphere). This spray-head cleans the glass well without chemical means. The special 'butterfly' head turns two ways, so that in one operation a wide strip of glass is cleaned. Tests by Van der Lans Tomaten confirmed this last autumn. Cees van der Lans: "We have tried everything in our glasshouse with AR glass, but nothing really cleans the glass properly. The new spray-head from Poppe does do this!"

Clean without chemicals
During cultivation changes often fluoride containing means are used to properly clean the glass. Aggressive means cannot be used for as long as the glass becomes coated and the pollution occurs quickly. Growers now choose for the time consuming cleaning with window washers, which is actually irresponsible in high glasshouses. The butterfly spray is definitely a solution for these growers. The new spray-head has been developed by Loonbedrijf Willem Poppe, the Netherlands and was automated by Klimrek / De Vette. Use is being made of a rafter cart which moves along the bars.
