Italy: 15% less apple harvest, good sales abroad for La Trentina
Due to the strong summer hailstorms, the consortium La Trentina recorded a decline in the conferred volume (something like 78,000 tons, 15% down than last year) and thus planned a de-cumulation of smaller volumes each month.
Although October and November 2011 were slow months, from December sales were restarted, allowing La Trentina to achieve full alignment with the plan of de-stocking scheduled for the end of the year (33% of total apples). January maintained this positive trend: the significant sales were higher than last year.
A good satisfaction, but the same cannot be said in terms of price level. The uncertainty and negative expectations on the economy in general are accompanied by an increase in the supply of European apples, which has led to a 10-15% reduction of the price level compared to the last marketing campaign. This competition has weighed particularly on Golden Delicious and some big sizes of red apple varieties.
The situation is quite hard, especially as for the Italian market. Sales abroad, where the La Trentina-branded product is increasingly recognized and appreciated, keep a good level.
And here is the importance of an event as Fruit Logistica, where Trentina welcome at their stand their customers from around the world, to strengthen commercial relations and to gather impressions and anticipation of what might be the trends in exports next few months.
During Fruit Logistica La Trentina will meet their customers from around the world, in order to strengthen commercial relations and gather impressions and expectations on trends in exports for next few months.
La Trentina will be at Fruit Logistica 2012, Hall 2.2 / Stand C-03 - Trentino Sprint Area.
