US doubles Peruvian strawberry imports

The Peruvian strawberry export grew 119% in 2011. It reached a value of about USD$12.0 million versus the USD$5.5 million in 2010. Prices rose 25% at USD$1.64 kilo average.

The United States imported Peruvian Strawberries for USD$3.1 million doubling its imports, followed by Belgium with USD$2.4 million, up from the USD$944,000 in 2010.Germany went from USD$555,000 to USD$1.3 million. China also increased from USD$67,000 to $ 654 000 in 2011. Altogether there are 22 countries importing the strawberries.

Agroworld leads Strawberry exports with USD$4.9 million, followed by MebolL with USD$3.9 million and Agropackers with USD$1.7 million, among 11 Companies.
