Largest Kuehne+Nagel storage capacity in Duisburg
The Swiss logistic concern Kühne+Nagel will increase its establishment in Duisburg, as a result of which it will become the largest office worldwide. The company want to increase its storage capacity in the port of Duisburg by 22,000 m2, which makes the total area almost 185,000 m2. Building has started in the meantime and according to the planning the work will be finalized in July 2012.
Kühne+Nagel opted for the extension in Duisburg because of the fact that both the ports of Antwerp and Rotterdam are in easy reach, said a spokesman of the Swiss company. Another advantage is also the 'good availability' of labour in the Ruhr area, which can be an issue in towns such as Hamburg and Munich.
The logistic concern plans to employ fifty new people in Duisburg. At the moment 500 people are employed at the site. The company realized a turnover of 20.2 billion Swiss francs in 2010 and showed a profit of 601 million Swiss francs. Worldwide about 60,000 people are employed by Kuehne+Nagel .
