Price increase in pears impossible at the moment

Germany: The demand for pears is still overshadowed at the moment by enormous stock in Italy. The variety Abate Fetel is especially responsible for placing sustained pressure on prices, according to the German Agrarmarkt Informations-Gesellschaft (AMI).

Despite sales of large quantities, for the time being the large stocks will not disappear quickly. The stock of Conference pears in the Netherlands is decreasing at such a high tempo on the other hand, that stocks will be at the level of 2009/2010 shortly, provided sales continue at the current rate.

Price increases are impossible at the moment in order not to harm sales continuity. In addition to this the seasonal sales of the South African Williams Bon Chretien will start in Europe during the course of week 3
