Mexico increases citrus exports to US, Europe and Asia

Lime exports from Veracruz grew 18% this year. The president for the National Executive Committee for the Lime Product System, Cesar Cortés Bello, explained that this product is sent mainly to the US, Europe and Asia.

In a press conference, the leader informed that they exported around 650 tons of lemon, from which 68% were sent to the United States, while the rest was divided between Europe, Asia and the industrial market.

He stated that, presently, the lime box is quoted at US$26, a lower price than in the last year when it passed the US$50, but even so, he added, a stable price.

"Even if this will not be a year like 2011, an historical year for us, this will be a stable year. Our exports grew 18%, benefiting more than 38,000 producers", he pointed out.
