Coming from third party countries

Spain: A 1% raise in fruits and vegetables importing value

The value of Communitarian imports of fruits and vegetables coming from third party countries until September 2011 was around the 8,800,000Euro, 1% more than in the same period of 2010, while the amount was reduced by 3%, adding up to 10,100,000 tons, according to fresh data from Eurostat, processed by FEPEX.
The average price for fruit and vegetables imported by the EU was of 1.1Euro per kilo against the 1.2Euro per kilo in the same period of 2010, representing 9% less.

By sub-sectors, the imports from third party countries until September 2011 was, for vegetables, of 1,653,000 Euro against the 1,646,000 Euro from the first three months of 2010, reflecting a slight drop of 0.4%. In amount, it was around 1,700,000 tons (-1.6%).

The community imports of fruit coming from countries outside the EU was around 7,100,000 Euro (+0.1%) and 8,300,000 tons (-4.5%).
