Spain: Del Monte opens a weekly fruit line in the Marín's Port

Marín's Port count since last week on a new regular fruit line coming from South America and sailing weekly into the port of Pontevedra as an entrance point for the Iberian Peninsula and Europe fruit's distribution. The company "Del Monte" has, since last week, a new service called "North Europe A Service". The two first ships covering this service came from Moin Bay (Costa Rica) and after unloading in Marín went on to the ports of Amberes (Belgium) and Portsmouth (United Kingdom).

The ships from the new regular line that will stop over in Marín are part of Del Monte's own fleet, that dedicated 4 similar ships to this service, in order to complete a total of 52 stop overs this year.

With the new line, Marín's Port expects to double its yearly movements of fruit, since the traffic is added to the weekly line of Pacific fruits that arrives every week from Ecuador. Marín gets strengthened as a reference in the North West of the peninsula for reception, storing and distribution of fruit and perishable products to the rest of Europe.
