Spar continues to grow in Switzerland

A high customer satisfaction level is the SPAR group's credo. Despite the large price declines of over 3,000 articles the whole SPAR turnover increased from 993 million Swiss francs in 2010 to 1 billion (820 million euros) in 2011. In a difficult market situation, characterized by, e.g., a decreasing consumer trust and deflation, this positive result reflects the efforts the the Swiss family company made to ensure the growth of the company.

The number of SPAR supermarkets in Switzerland increased from 158 in 2010 to 164 in 2011. The turnover of these supermarkets increased by 0.4% compared to last year to 554 million Swiss francs. And all this despite the decrease of the price of food by 4.8%.
