German Fruit Variety Consortium strengthens search for innovative varieties

Deutsches Obstsorten Konsortium GmbH (DOSK), founded in 2003, is an association of nine German fruit co-operatives and accounts for distribution of about 500 000 tons fruit per year. DOSK GmbH intends to acquire new varieties, production and distribution licenses.

New developed varieties are supposed to be launched into the German fruit market by following a coordinated and comprehensive marketing strategy. Based on experiences of previous introductions of varieties such as Rubens® or Kanzi®, DOSK GmbH moves into a new era.

In future Mr. Dirk Zabel, Head of Variety Innovation at DOSK GmbH, will look for progresses in global fruit variety market. Promising novelties will be tested under different climatic conditions in Germany. Existing contacts to variety providers such as breeders and other consortia will be improved to further establish DOSK GmbH as a capable partner for the commercial launch of new fruit varieties in the German market.
Meet Mr. Dirk Zabel at Fruit Logistica 8th to 10th of February 2012 in Berlin / Germany, joint exposition stand of the german fruit co-operatives, hall 20.
