The Man from Del Monte strengthens its presence in Italy

For decades Italian people have said 'Yes' to the excellent quality of fresh fruit selected by the Man from Del Monte, one of the most popular advertising characters in the Italian media. From January 2012, Del Monte aims to expand its presence on the Italian market taking up again the management of its fresh fruit distribution and sale.

"Thanks to the full control of the distribution chain, from tropical plantations to the market, we can guarantee the respect of highest standards for freshness and quality, in this way pledging the most agreeable and enjoyable taste experience to Italian consumers" Jean-Pierre Bartoli, Del Monte Europe & Africa Vice President says.

Del Monte selected a network of specialized operators on the Italian area in order to guarantee fluidity and quickness in the fresh fruit distribution. Further Del Monte has made a deal with the port of Livorno for the weekly unloading of fruit from Central America.

"In Italy the Del Monte brand is associated with pineapples, the favourite fruit of Italian people for its quality and refined taste, features that we can see also in Del Monte bananas and other imported fruit. Our will to further penetrate the Italian market is a demonstration of trust in its market potential. We are sure that current clients of Del Monte will welcome this change and will work together for the growth of the Del Monte brand in the coming years" Jean-Pierre Bartoli concludes.
