Nepal: Ginger farming lures farmers in Khotang

Most of the farmers in Khotang district have started commercial ginger farming to sustain their livelihood. Locals residing along the road side have been interested to cultivate ginger with the convenience in exporting the products after the expansion of transportation in the district.

Chimtia and Ghamailo Kalomato in the mid-Himalayan region are considered to be the fertile land for ginger production. Farmers in Khotang district have been generating annual income worth tens of thousands rupees from the ginger farming, according to District Agriculture Development Office.
