Peru's agro-exports totalled US$516m in Jan 2017

Peru's agro-exports totalled US$516 million in January 2017, up by 6% from the same month last year, the country's Agriculture and Irrigation Ministry reported.

Growth was attributed to greater sales of traditional (+31%) and non-traditional (+4%) agro-products, as well as by an upward trend in export values.

Among the main exported products were non-frozen prepared vegetables (+36%), prepared artichokes (+26%), fresh grapes (+15%), fresh mangoes (+14%), frozen mangoes (+10%) and prepared asparagus (+7%).

During the analyzed period, Peruvian agro-exports arrived in 98 countries. The United States led the ranking by receiving 36% of shipments, followed by the Netherlands (11%), Spain (5%), Ecuador (5%), Hong Kong (4%), Colombia (4%), China (3%), England (3%), Germany (3%) and Belgium (3%).
