Grower donates produce to retailer to aid Second Harvest Food Bank

Titan Farms and its retail partner, Harris Teeter, join efforts once again to fight hunger through a donation of more than 21,000 bell peppers donated from the farm. The North Carolina-based retailer kicked off its Harvest Feast campaign, where they will distribute thousands of holiday dinner bags through the Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina’s network of partner agencies.

As part of its Harvest Feast, the retailer held its seventh-annual event to assemble thousands of dinner donation bags last week in preparation for the holidays.

Each Thanksgiving dinner bag contains products for a homemade Thanksgiving meal that includes bell peppers from Titan Farms, chicken, yams, corn, green beans, cranberry sauce and other holiday classics. Each bag has enough food to provide a holiday meal to a family of four. The bag assembly is hosted in conjunction with Harris Teeter’s annual Harvest Feast Food Drive and Donation Card Campaign.

“We want to thank Titan Farms for supporting local hunger relief efforts and helping us feed 8,000 Charlotte community members who are less-fortunate this holiday season,” said Danna Robinson, communication manager for Harris Teeter. “Fresh produce is scarce in food banks across the country, and we are happy to be able to contribute nutritious items to those in need.”

“We so appreciate our partner Harris Teeter giving us the opportunity to make a difference and participate in Harvest Feast,” said Lori Anne Carr, vice-president of Titan Farms. “During this season of giving thanks, we are elated to be able to put fresh produce in the hands of those in need. The main focus of the holiday season should be on family and our time together, and not on whether there will be enough food to share with loved ones.”

Harris Teeter and Titan Farms would like to offer a special thanks to Jear Logistics for helping transport the donated product.
