Usually present in the “overseas” area of the Paris Agricultural Show, the banana of Guadeloupe and Martinique was located in the “plant crop” area this time. After two years of absence, this change has allowed the French banana to gain visibility alongside the interprofession and all professionals of the fruit and vegetable sector. “We received a very warm welcome from visitors, as well as exhibitors, who came to congratulate us for our presence and our very immersive and educational stand.”
A lively and colorful stand especially set up for visitors and reflecting “a structured and organized sector.” “The visitors were very interested and asked a lot of relevant questions about our production methods, the history of the sector and the different ways of consuming bananas. As for the producers, they were proud and delighted by this enthusiasm, and very happy to share their knowledge with the general public. They were able to explain what they do and transmit a strong message to the visitors,” explains Geraldine Mbarga Mboa, public relation manager at UGPBAN.
In total, nearly 85,000 bananas were distributed by UGPBAN during the 9-day event
UGPBAN thought big for this 2023 edition. “We wanted to bring a real added value. Our objective was to inform, involve and entertain, so we opted for an educational format.” The first workshop (“Plant your banana tree”), with the contribution of Vitropic, provided banana plants, “so each visitor could leave with their own banana tree”. Card games retracing the history of the banana, culinary animations with various chefs and bloggers who came to “sublimate the banana with sweet and savory presentations”. Children could also get their face painted and bring some color to a mural especially designed for the occasion.
