Onion prices continue to soar in Tirupati

A severe supply shortage of onions has led the prices to soar in the Tirupati retail markets for the past few days. In the absence of any effective controlling mechanism, the prices of almost all the vegetables have been skyrocketing for the past two months.

Even the leafy vegetables are being sold at high prices. The onion prices have been on the rise almost for the past one month. Street vendors argue that it was not easy for them to sell onions these days as they were seeing huge losses due to rotting vegetables.

According to an article on thehansindia.com¸ consumers are blaming the government for its poor planning in making the required quantities of onions available.
