Mediterranean fruit fly detected in nectarine batches going from Turkey to Russia

On July 11, 2023, during the quarantine phytosanitary control, Rosselkhoznadzor discovered the Mediterranean fruit fly in a batch of approximately 7 tons of fresh nectarines coming from Turkey.

The presence of the quarantine pest in a viable state was confirmed by laboratory expertise conducted by specialists subordinate to Rosselkhoznadzor. The product owner decided to disinfect nectarines using fumigation. After that, the fruits were sent to their destination.

Since the beginning of 2023, the Rosselkhoznadzor administration has recorded 15 cases of detecting the Mediterranean fruit fly in imported nectarines.
