Every month, British Apples and Pears collates data from British Apple & Pear growers on the quantity of British apples they sold to UK supermarkets. The latest data is below.
Aldi was still the largest purchaser of British apples sold to UK supermarkets by BAPL growers in May 2023, at approximately 3.200 tonnes sold.
Here’s the same monthly data presented as a percentage of all British apples sold, by supermarkets (green line). The red line is a comparison data point of the grocery market share for that supermarket. We would expect the share of British apples sold to be about the same as the supermarket’s grocery market share, but some are doing much better than others.
